6153 at 47th and Cottage Grove turning northbound on Rt 28-Stony Island on the way downtown in 1950.
This an "Odd 17" car built in 1919 by the Surface Lines, a group of eight similar to nine other cars (6138-6146) built to replace cars lost in the Archer Station fire in 1916.
On December 4 1949, Rt 28 was converted to bus operation on weekends and holidays and the buses ran only from 93rd and Stony Island to 47th and Cottage Grove. On June 30 1951, buses were substituted for streetcars on Rt 28, and service from 47th and Cottage Grove to downtown discontinued.
