4060 is turning into the W 117th St off Lorain Avenue, heading south to the short turn loop in 1951. The car will then return to Lorain - West 110th - Denison to Denison Station at West 73rd St. Trackage on W 117th was being built around 1930 for a new car house and a W 117th St crosstown line but was never completed because of the Great Depression. Special work was installed and remained at W117 and Lorain and W117 and Madison. The median on W117 between those points remained unpaved for many years but was finally paved, I vaguely recall around 1940-41. The W117 loop was installed around 1948 when CTS converted the western end of Lorain, beyond W140th St, the 85-Lorain Express motorbus. It saved mileage deadheading between W140 and W117. CTS had to build the loop but the other trackage was in place.
