Pre-PCC St Louis Car built 1053 on the Route 72 line which served Georgia Ave and 7th St. This photo was taken at 4th and Butternut NW, a short turn on the 7th St line leaving 7th at Walter Reed Hospital and operating over to the BandO Silver Spring Station. The present day Silver Spring Metro station is not far from this location. This was one of 20 cars ordered in 1935 by Capital Transit from Brill and St. Louis. It eventually wound up at National Capitol Trolley Museum, It was destroyed in a carbarn fire in the early morning hours of Sunday September 28 2003, which also destroyed eight trolleys and their barn. The fire was of unknown origin.
