3159 on the P line at 1st St and Boyle I dont know if this happened in other cities, but when the all-electric (P-3s) arrived, they had a very quick acceleration rate, much quicker than drivers were accustomed to. The driving convention in LA then was in order to get around a streetcar, at a traffic light one would be in the curb lane, and when the light turned green hit the gas and zip over in front of the car. Unfortunately, the autos of the day had less pickup than the P-3s After a number of encounters between drivers and the cars, LATL finally gave in and reduced the acceleration rate on the cars to match that of the earlier air-electrics. Thus were running times on the P line slowed by a couple of minutes.
