Car 1987 at the Mount Royal carhouse was one of the third order of these one-man cars from Canadian Car & Foundry, which delivered this order in 1929 just before the Depression. Some of this class were slated for refurbishment in 1953 but the program was cancelled as bus substitutions continued. Car 1987 was one of 20 cars of this class to be equipped with a reverse control system allowing the motorman to operate in reverse at slow speed when reversing on a wye at the end of some routes.
