The Erie MU cars were originally ordered by the Philadelphia and Western Railroad Co., but P&W was unable to pay for them at the time, 1906. Thereupon St. Louis Car Co. sold them to others. They were equipped with 11,000 volt 25 cycles (weren't Hertz then) per second, a.c., the first to use it. the NH came later. These cars ran on the Rochester & Genesee Valley Branch, Rochester to Mt. Morris.
