The administration building at South Hills Jct provides the background for this 1700-series car outbound on the 53-Carrick. Early in the PAT era, Rt 53 service was removed from S 18th St and Carson St on Pittsburgh's Southside and diverted over the peak hour only 47-Carrick via Tunnel line. This eliminated the use of the route 47 sign exposure.
