The 1950s high-rise in the middle background is the Foederer Pavilion of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (1954), at the northeast corner of 11th and Walnut. The south end of the building is actually about 20 ft north of Walnut, which opens a view to the Jefferson Medical College and Curtis Clinic building (1931), the Art Deco mid-rise in the 1000 block of Walnut.
